Wake up and behold the Hand of God
Do we see the hand of God directing us in our lives? From the the big things to the little things? We always say that the big things in life that happen, like the healing of a sickness or a job when destitution is around the corner, are the things we praise and give glory to God for. But are God’s blessings only to be recognized on the ‘obvious?’ We believe God wants us to acknowledge and recognize his hand over all matters of our lives. Unlike tithing, we don’t believe that God only wants 10% of the glory. We think he wants it all, be it big or small. What do you think?
So, this morning after breakfast, we went for a walk. Heading out I noticed the clouds were looking dark and heavy so I grabbed the umbrella that had been sitting by the door for a few days. Normally, that is the umbrella we leave in Andy’s truck, and he had been meaning to put it back, but hadn’t yet. Well, on the way back from our walk, the sky opened up and the rain came down! How blessed for us that we had the umbrella! We thought back to a few weeks earlier when we walked around our lake and got caught in a very heavy down pour. By the time we got home, we were drenched! It was totally FUN and we both loved it – felt like kids again…. you know how kids love splashing around in the rain!
But anyhow, as fun as that was, we were both glad to have the umbrella with us today. Do we take the credit and say “Gee, Andy… thank goodness you didn’t put that umbrella back in the truck, or I wouldn’t have seen it and taken it on our walk.” Or, do we say “Mary! Thank you for bringing that umbrella!?” LOL – – How about saying this, “Thank you God for all your goodness and mercies! Thank you for your favor on us! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk and didn’t have to run home because you so graciously guided our steps to take the umbrella!” We prefer that! Give 100% to God, for what is rightfully his – ALL OF IT!
So yes, to wake up and smell the coffee is always good, but what’s even better is to “wake up and behold the Hand of God.”
